Evija Freidenfeld (1966) has a master's degree in biology and law, is a student in the master's program of the Art Academy of Latvia in the graphic arts faculty and teaches painting and drawing to children and teenagers. Freidenfeld also works as a curator and has won various art competitions. She experiments with a combination of painting and drawing techniques: balance of colour spaces, tonal intensity and texture.

"I chose black for the graphic series because it gives black, grey and white tones with different intensities when in contact with a white canvas. The graphics technique allows creation using lines, scratches, and side proportions – their visual qualities are very different from those created with the touch of a brush. The works in the "Illusory Reality" series are endowed with a sensuality expressed through the nuances of tone and created dream-like landscapes that approach poetic abstraction.
