Biography

The artist Marina Medvedeva creative pseudonym Marin Medi, was born on August 12, 1972. Graduated from Riga Technical University in the specialty "Economics of Light Industry".
From 1991 to 1993 she attended courses at the Art Academy of Latvia and focused on fashion design. In 1994 opened her own fashion studio and within five years Marina Medvedeva's Fashion House became one of the largest in Riga. From 2004 to 2007 regularly showed its collections in Riga Fashion Week. In 2009 opened a branch of fashion house in St. Petersburg and a year later participated in the fashion festival "Defile on the Neva".
The artist always created her paintings for herself - for the Soul, and her closest friends. Until fully was formulated in the artist's philosophy and what she wanted to tell people with it, there was a wish to create an exhibition. The first solo exhibition of Marina Medvedeva took a place in St. Petersburg in art gallery Мастер класс. The second exhibition was organized in October of the same year in Riga Grand Palace Hotel.

 
Artistic description

Painter Marina Medvedeva creates her works of art with a special individual approach, philosophy and author's technique. Abstract compositions are designed as a connection with the subconscious allowing the viewer of the painting to go in the flow of emotions and associations evoked by colours, brushstrokes and the texture of the painting. To see the structure in chaos, accept the variability and to realize the impossibility of perfection is a mindset, which Japanese call WABI-SABI. This life philosophy is close to the artist herself and wants to pass through her paintings. Each painting is complimented by a handwritten quote by famous or anonymous author on an old book page, which is surrounded by several layers of colour. Thus, combining two energies - the "power of colour" and the "power of word". It’s also important when the artist crates commission paintings to feel the person’s energy, which is transformed into a work of art that serves as kind of individual amulet.
"It is never too late to start something new, especially if your Soul demands it! Everything is in our hands!” - is the motto of the life of the artist Marina Medvedeva.

Interesting facts

In 2011 at the peak of her fashion designer career Marina closed her fashion house and ended her career. According to Marina: "The desire to remain silent and say STOP was the call of the Soul." The artist travelled, focused on psychology and philosophy, and various energetic practices.
Marina Medvedeva's first solo exhibition in St. Petersburg received a good review, and almost all of the paintings in the exhibition were sold.
In 2021 according to the Latvian director Dž. Dž. Džilindžers invitation she created costumes for the theatre play "The New Bride" at the Liepaja Theatre.
