Pugačova specialized in graphic art and was fascinated by the precise depiction of nature. For her diploma work at the Latvian Academy of Art, she created illustrations and art design for Ernest Hemingway’s novel “Across the River and Into the Trees”. The artist is the author of several series of etchings, including “Small Towns of Latvia” and “Portraits”, as well as a series of color lithographs, “Seasons” and “Love and Cherish”, created in the 1980s. Her compositions combine distinct elements of nature, brought together in dynamic, restless movement and complemented by romantic, imaginative scenes. In her miniature works, personified animals are depicted in playful genre scenes in the etching series “Wedding Songs” and “Madrigal”. Pugačova also illustrated children’s books and created bookplates. [2]
