Vineta Sayer

Biography

Vineta Sayer is a Latvian artist, born in Latvia in 1968. She received her initial artistic education at the Janis Rozentāls Art School from 1980 to 1987, then studied at the Art Academy of Latvia from 1987 to 1994. She currently lives and works in the United Kingdom, where she has become known as an artist specialising in equestrian and horse-themed art.

Artistic Style

Sayer’s interest in horses emerged in early childhood. She works across various techniques – oil painting, drawing, and etching – and is regarded as one of the United Kingdom’s leading contemporary equestrian art figures. Her artistic style is characterised by expressive, bold brushwork, dynamism, movement, and emotionally charged composition. Her favourite subjects include horse racing, polo matches, and hunting with dogs.

In 1999, the artist received the title Artist of the Year in Valmiera, Latvia. She has held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Latvia, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom, and her works are held in private collections across several European countries and the USA. She has created paintings for the interiors of horse racing complexes. In 2025, she took part in the international exhibition dedicated to contemporary equestrian art, the European Equine Art Fair in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is also represented by the international equestrian art organisation Equestrian Art International (United Kingdom).[1]
