Landscape sketching masterclass with Mary Zhang on June 28th, 2020, at 12.00 am.

Sketching masterclass plan:

1.     Brief description of landscape sketching. Analysis of the landscape: foreground, mid-range and background. Painting elements: trees, clouds, roads, grass, water, hills.

2.     5 minutes sketching practice:

trees (pine, cottonwood, willow);

grass (single and into pieces);

cloud (outline, inner filling);

land (outline, inner filling).

3.     Draw three different landscapes (10 minutes each). Idyllic sea or city scenery (reference picture should be determined before).

4.     Summary. The beginners shouldn't worry too much about the order of painting, but rather start drawing from any pleasant choice. Once the skills have been acquired, estimate and monitor time in order to adjust the details and strive for a complete picture.

Recommended landscape locations: River Daugava, Jurmala Beach, courtyard.
