On Sunday, July 19, at 12:00, a lecture by the history teacher Edgars Berzins "His (s) tory * or why is history a story?" will be held at the Art Platz gallery.
The internationally recognized encyclopedia "Britannica" explains the concept of history as "a science, which analyzes various sources of history and literature and studies the development of society from the earliest to the present, highlighting the connections between cause and effect". The proposed definition includes the popular view of history as a set of facts, events, personalities, and years. Therefore, in order to dispel the myth of history as a set of old and boring facts, the lecture will provide compelling examples to explain the main differences between the concepts of history and our past, as well as answer the important questions: what the story of history is, and who the ones that tell this story are.
